St. Petersburg is easy to reach via many daily convenient flight connections from main European and American cities. Travelling by bus, car, ship or train is also possible from Europe. St. Petersburg International Airport "Pulkovo-2" is 17 km away from the centre of the city.
St.
Petersburg has a fast and comfortable underground (metro) system. Trains run
from 5:30-6:00 in the morning to midnight. Metro fare is paid with a token,
which costs 10 Rur, or about 0.3 ˆ one-way regardless of the distance and
number of metro transfers during a trip.
From 5:30 to 24:00 streets are served by buses, trolleybuses and trams. There
are also a large number of express buses, taxi-buses and shuttles. Fares charged
for journeys vary from 10 to 20 Rur. A payment for journeys on the city’s
public transport is in cash; tickets should be bought from the conductor or the
driver in express buses and taxi-buses. Tickets are for single route only.
St.Petersburg
is situated in the Moscow standard time zone (MST), which differs from Greenwich
Mean Time (GMT).

The
national Russian currency is Ruble. In Russia, payment for all goods and
services has to be made in national currency, or by major credit cards.
Foreign currency can be exchanged in banks, at the airport and hotels, in
currency exchange offices throughout the city. Exchange rates are always posted.
